  • 75 Day Credit Makeover ....

A representative will be assigned to your specific file in order to better assist you in the credit repair process.

Once the first round of letters are created, you will be given a username and password to sign on to the CJS System. Download your letters, print them, and sign them. This will enable you to print your letters and mail them to the relative credit bureaus.

Once the letters have been mailed out, just sit back, relax, and collect the responses.

After 30 days from the mail-out date, your assigned representative will contact you with a friendly reminder that it is time to mail in all the responses you have received from the bureaus thus far.

The above process will be repeated with the second round of letters.

The third round of letters, however, are mailed out certified mail, and the bureaus will only have 15 days to respond.

FIRST ROUND LETTERS: are sent by you. The credit bureaus have thirty days to respond. Your assigned representative will call you after 30 days to remind you to send in their FIRST ROUND RESPONSES to our corporate office.

SECOND ROUND LETTERS: are sent by you. The credit bureaus have thirty days to respond. Your assigned representative will call you after 30 days to remind you to send in their SECOND ROUND RESPONSES to our corporate office.

THIRD ROUND LETTERS: are sent out via Certified Mail by you. The credit bureaus have 15 days to respond. Your assigned representative will call you after 14 days to remind you to send in their THIRD ROUND RESPONSES to our corporate office.

  • Your Rights As A Consumer ...

RIGHT 1: The right to view your credit report.

This portion of the law requires that the credit reporting agencies supply you with a full report on your credit transactions at any time you request one. There is no charge for the first credit report you request annually. For every subsequent credit report you request, the credit reporting agencies are allowed to charge a reasonable fee. However, if you have recently been rejected for credit you are entitled to a free credit report even if you have already requested one that year.

RIGHT 2: The right to know who has inquired about your credit.

The law allows you to know every bank, credit card company, employer, etc. who has requested a copy of your credit report. This even includes all the times the credit reporting agency has pulled your file.

RIGHT 3: The right to request verification of information you believe is incorrect.

This allows you to have a negative entry checked. This guarantees that every time you tell a credit reporting agency that an item is incorrect, they will investigate the item. Without this portion of the law, the credit bureaus would be able to refuse to investigate your disputes.

RIGHT 4: The right to insert missing data into your credit file.

Often you will have credit granted to you that never makes its way into your credit report. This portion of the law allows you to report all this good credit information to the credit reporting agencies and have it entered into your credit report.

RIGHT 5: The right to automatically remove information from your credit report over 7 years, 10 years for bankruptcy.

This guarantees that past financial indiscretions do not follow you for the rest of your life.

RIGHT 6: The right to place your personal statement in your credit report.

Some people have negative credit due to extraordinary events such as loss of a job, sickness, divorce, etc. This law allows you to have a written statement of 100 words or less placed in your credit report. This can be used to explain to future creditors what caused the bad credit and why it was a one time occurrence.

RIGHT 7: The right to privacy of the information in your credit report from anyone other than legitimate members of credit reporting agency.

This states that no one can look at your credit report without your permission. That is why creditors have you sign a form allowing them to examine your credit report. The only exception to this right is the credit reporting agencies. They are allowed to look at your credit report without your permission only for legitimate business purposes.

RIGHT 8: The right to have your credit report transferred from one area to another any time you move.

This provision of the law guarantees that your credit history follows you wherever you go. This allows your hard-earned good credit to follow you all over the United States. Unfortunately, it also means that any bad credit you have also follows you across the country.

RIGHT 9: The right to use the small claims court system to resolve any disputes with the credit bureaus about incorrect or inaccurate information in your credit report.

This gives you the right to your day in court. If something on your credit report is inaccurate and you can't get it repaired through the credit repair process, you have the right to present your evidence in a court of law to resolve the dispute.

RIGHT 10: The right to know exactly why you were refused credit.

This means the creditor who refused you credit must inform you of exactly why you were turned down. This request must be made by you to the creditor within 10 days of being turned down.

    DEALING WITH THE CREDIT BUREAUS

It is essential to understand that Credit Bureaus are nothing more than record keepers.

Simply put, they keep a record of who has given you credit, when they gave you credit, how much credit you were given, and whether or not you paid it back on time.

Credit Bureaus are paid by the people who request your credit file. Credit Bureaus have no legal power over you. Government, police, or banks do not run them; so do not be intimidated. They are the Credit Bureaus because they own large computer systems capable of storing credit information on everyone in the United States. However, due to the overwhelming amount of information on their computers, their method if information collecting is very basic, and ridden with many errors. Since the bureaus have made so many errors in the past, all federal laws regarding credit information are very much in your favor.

    Crucial Strategies

The only thing you legally need to supply the credit bureaus for a copy of your report is your name, your social security number, and a legal mailing address (P.O. Box is a legal address). Did you know that many of the collection agencies are owned by credit bureaus?

NEVER give credit bureaus more information than they need.

The bureaus also have a right to request a copy of your social security card, but only give a copy of the FRONT. They may also request a copy of something showing your address if it is different than what is showing on the report. Send them a billing statement that has your address. DO NOT send them a copy of your driver's license as they request. Remember, these bureaus are information-gathering companies who sell your information, not only for credit, but also for promotional reasons.

  • Citizens setting up refunds

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Feb. 15, 2007 – Citizens Property Insurance Corp. plans to send refund checks to all of its 1.3 million policyholders around April 15, one of several price reductions that customers will receive during the next several months.

The state-sponsored insurer disclosed the time frame last week in papers filed with regulators but declined to say Tuesday how much the cuts would be.

Previously, officials have estimated a maximum 5 percent cut. The refunds are the result of the state Legislature’s insurance reform package.

Some Citizens policyholders will be eligible for additional discounts. About 20,000 customers statewide in the high-risk wind account will receive refund checks in the next two weeks, said spokesman Rocky Scott.

Citizens has more than 400,000 high-risk policies, but most customers were not charged the higher premiums previously scheduled for January but subsequently canceled by state lawmakers.

Those premium hikes were as high as 22 percent in South Florida. Beginning Thursday, customers getting renewal notices will see the change reflected.

A small group of policyholders in Citizens personal lines account, which covers about 800,000 policyholders, also will be receiving refund checks as of March 15.

Most won’t get the refund because Citizens already readjusted rates in the account to reflect the elimination of a Jan. 1 rate hike.

Policyholders who are not in the high-risk pool and who are eligible for refunds will see small checks for the most part because their rates did not go up as much as Citizen’s high-risk rates.

Those policies in Palm Beach County refunds could be as little as 1 percent or 2 percent of the total premium. Martin County residents will fare better, with rates going down around 14 percent.

Citizens also has reiterated its plans to offer, by April 1, multi-peril coverage in its high-risk wind pool area, which is east of Interstate 95 in Palm Beach and St. Lucie counties. By issuing the less-risky fire and theft coverage, Citizens will increase its premium base while lowering its overall risk.

Policyholders in those areas now have two policies, one from Citizens for wind damage and a second policy, usually from a private company, to cover other risks.

Citizens’ plan to offer such coverage is subject to the approval of the governor and other top state officials.
